Allow Us To Reintroduce Ourselves

The Bronzeville Incubator (2005).

In 2005, Bernard Loyd (President of Urban Juncture Foundation) purchased an abandoned liquor store on 51st & Prairie with one goal in mind: Build Bronzeville. 18 years later the abandoned liquor store has flourished into The Bronzeville Incubator, home to the Illinois SBDC at Build Bronzeville; Boxville, Bronzeville Cookin’; The Forum; and Engage Bronzeville, which includes the Bronzeville Community Garden.

As we welcome a new year one of our goals is simply to connect with you. Yes, you. Maybe you’ve driven past Boxville and wondered “What is that place?”. We invite you to come check out Chicago’s first shipping container market and support the Black owned businesses that reside in the Boxville community. Maybe you’ve heard about Forum Hall and you’re eager to know what we have planned. Follow @theforum43 on Instagram for updates and ways to get involved with the only building from the Black Metropolis Era that still stands on 43rd Street.

It’s safe to say that Build Bronzeville is a movement, hence the noun: build. We’re building. We're excited to build more with YOU.
